Extended Unique Identifier
- IPv6 Addresses are 128 bits
- Standard netmask is /64
- Networks are 64 bits
- Host ID can be 64 bits
- Each host requires a unique ID
EUI-64 Host ID
- Host IDs can be generated by using the MAC address
- MAC address is 48 bits
- 24 bits will be added
- 64 bit unique host ID!
